Biometrics Collection

The Australian Government collects biometrics from clients applying for Australian visas in Egypt and Algeria.  Biometrics will be collected from visa applicants, irrespective of their nationality, who are in Egypt or Algeria at the time of making a visa application to enter Australia unless they are excluded or exempted.

Biometrics are collected at an Australian Biometric Collection Centre (ABCC) in Cairo or Algiers.  The ABCC, operated by Teleperformance, will charge a fee for this service. Visa applicants should register, make an appointment and make payment for the biometric enrolment as per the instructions provided on the Teleperformance website prior to attending the ABCC.

Visa applicants will be sent a letter informing them that they need to attend the ABCC in Cairo or Algiers to provide their biometrics. Applicants should take a copy of this email and their passport to the ABCC.

Documents posted from outside Egypt

If you intend to send an application or any documents to the Embassy from outside Egypt (including from Australia), you should engage the services of an internationally reputable courier company which will guarantee a door-to-door service. You should ensure that any courier you use has an office in Egypt and will undertake action on your behalf in relation to customs clearance.  We recommend that you use DHL or TNT. Clients report problems when using Australia Post’s courier services and, as such we strongly recommend that clients DO NOT use Australia Post.

Your courier service is then responsible for ensuring that the package is delivered to the Embassy. The Australian Embassy in Cairo cannot provide you with any assistance in clearing any item through Egyptian Customs, even if you have used an international courier as recommended.
